Chapter 19

“YOU KILLED THEM ALL?!” the man asked. He couldn’t believe his cybernetic eyes!

“Yeah, they’re dead alright. Go ahead and check if ya want,” Sergey replied with a chuckle while listening to a report. Contrary to their expectations, nine shelter soldiers had been injured, one seriously. The operation had been planned as an “easy win,” a swift victory without any casualties. One of the scouts had also been seriously wounded taking out the guards. Because of this, the boss had to leave the cyborg on the battlefield and quickly teleport the injured man to the hospital himself.

The battlefield was painstakingly cleared out over the course of twenty minutes. Since they had the opportunity, the soldiers also went ahead and looted the entire manufacturing complex. They found a lot of ancient equipment there. The zombies had already taken all the good parts, of course, but there was still tens of thousands of tons of rusted-out metal, as well as a wide variety of colored metals.

They quickly tallied up the weapons and armor. The gear that could be repaired included 411 sets of Apocalypse Soldier armor, which would be reforged into Apocalypse Knights, and 390 AP-1s, which would also be upgraded.

They also found coins, cores, Tilian system gear, etc. The motorcycles were harder to evaluate — it would take some time to figure out which ones could be repaired, but there looked to be about 345 of them.

The shelter scored a ton of power cores, including a little over 4,000 level 2 cores and 30 level 3 cores. They also got 600 Tilian energy weapons. Unfortunately, most of them were level 2, but they were still pretty decent.

There were all sorts of unfamiliar devices there too, as well as Tilian skill chips. It would all be carefully sorted and studied, but not right now — Sergey wanted to get the negotiator back home before dinner, and they were running out of time.

“Well? Mission accomplished, right? Ready to head back?” the human asked the cyborg with a wry grin.

“Huh? Uh, yeah, sure...” The jumpsuit-wearing cyborg still hadn't quite processed everything he’d seen. “Why do you take the bodies with you?”

“Whaddaya mean, why? We recycle the corpses and fix the gear,” Sergey replied frankly as he started walking away from the building.

It took over half an hour to get back. Sergey ran into another horde on the way, but there were so many level 3 Altered mixed in with the small fry, he decided to go around the horde rather than flying over it.

Instead of driving into the town, Sergey lent the negotiator a vehicle and sent him back to his camp. Then he teleported back to the shelter, leaving a Shell and a small squad behind. He was starving!

The table was pretty lively, and it was all because of Rayne, who had been released from the hospital. The girls were talking very loudly and all at the same time, which made it impossible to tell what they were talking about — at least for Sergey…

“’Sup, everybody.
